$200,000 funding boost to enhance the utility of the Internet

The auDA Foundation Board, with support from auDA, is pleased to announce a new $200,000 round of competitive funding. Five grants of $40,000 are available for new education or research projects that enhance the utility of the Internet across three key areas:

Digital inclusion

Cyber security for small business

Internet access for young Australians.

This significant commitment builds on the Foundation’s history of projects supporting the utility of the Internet, including research into digital literacy, funding for digital inclusion and improving the affordability of Internet access for Indigenous communities.

Foundation Chair, James Atkins said, “We are thrilled to reignite the auDA Foundation to fund much needed research and support projects that focus on driving the utility, accessibility and security of the Internet in Australia.”

auDA CEO, Rosemary Sinclair AM said, “auDA is pleased to support the Foundation in this new funding round. The pandemic has demonstrated the Internet is indeed a critical asset – as important as electricity and gas to many Australians and vital for empowering social connection, economic prosperity and digital transformation across the nation.”

The new funding round is now open. Applications for funding are sought for projects in the areas of:

Digital inclusion (with an emphasis on First Nations peoples)
Cyber security for small business
Internet access for young Australians.

Interested parties can apply up until 15 October 2021.

Applications will be assessed by the auDA Foundation Board and successful applicants will be notified during the first week of December.

The auDA Foundation is excited to hear from the Australian community about the projects they consider will enhance the utility of the Internet.
